Swoon worthy destinations…

…in honor of Valentine’s Day this post is all about romantic destinations that are on my bucket list. For full disclosure I haven’t been to any of these, but hope to reach them all soon, well as soon as we win the lottery. A girl can dream right??!

First up is Bora Bora. This French Polynesian gem makes list after list for vacation destinations, and I totally understand why. This small island is surrounded by sand islets, and a turquoise lagoon that is protected by a coral reef. Throw in over-the-water bungalows and it sounds like paradise. They will literally bring you breakfast by canoe (I know, my parents have been), and some bungalows come with a private butler and glass bottomed floors. Spend your days floating in glistening water or being pampered, the St Regis offers candlelight sunset massages…I would take either.

Next up is Santorini. This picturesque Greek isle is renowned for being a honeymoon destination. Its white buildings with blue dome roofs are easily recognizable. We were suppose to be in Greece in the fall of 2020 and then the world shut down and sadly we have yet to reschedule. But if we were to have went we would’ve stayed in a villa with a massive balcony overlooking the Aegean Sea and an infinity edged pool. We also would’ve hiked between Fira and Oia and watched the sunset, hoping for some romanticized moment straight of out Momma Mia.

Following Santorini, we have Paris, la ville de l’amour, the city of love. Paris is often the backdrop of many love stories, either on film or on paper. With an abundance of romantic restaurants, old world aesthetic, twinkling lights, and wine, it seems like it would be a lovers dream come true. There is even a bridge dedicated to love…The Love Lock Bridge.

Staying in Europe, but moving south is Tuscany. Think wineries surrounded by gently rolling hills. Think strolling the countryside hand and hand with your love. Think cooking classes in a centuries old farmhouse. The descriptions of Tuscany are breathtaking and so are the pictures. Any couple would be lucky to spend a week here…and AirBnB will even rent you a Tuscan Castle, since we are spending our lottery money why not get a castle.

Next on my list we have an African Safari with a stop over on Mnemba Island. There are a lot of destinations to choose from when it comes to an African Safari. The top of my list is Tanzania because I can couple it with a side trip to Zanzibar or the private island known as Mnemba. Spend your days cruising around looking for animals and your evenings eating dinner by candlelight. End your week on a private beach, on a private island. If Meghan and Harry can find love in Africa, so can all of us.

Rounding out my list is Cappadocia Turkey. This place looks like something out of a fairytale. It is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Goreme National Park. This park is home to gorgeous rock formations. But the thing Cappadocia is most known for is hot air balloons. These balloons are launched almost everyday weather depending. Is there anything more romantic than riding in a hot air balloon with your love and taking in stunning scenery…I don’t think so.

While most of us will be blessed with chocolates and flowers, maybe even jewelry I am going to keep my fingers crossed for a vacation.
